Gorilla was often domineeringly-pedantic when it came to the rules of wrestling and the application of submission holds, is all... things like "Why is Owen hart applying an abdominal stretch to Scott Steiner? He doesn't have the size nor leverage to make this hold effective and he hasn't even hooked the hold in properly by hooking his leg behind Steiner's!"Posted by Jaqk on Today at 12:09am
And, yeah, I realise that quote there has nothing to do with the "rules" of wrestling, it's just one of the more obvious "Why the f**k are you saying that, man?" quotes I remember him saying. Gorilla would often be the guy to explain why things work in the context of wrestling rules. I think, and I'm looking to Si to confirm this for me, there was even a RIM thread a while ago titled "Ask Gorilla" were one poster would ask how this or that fitted into the logic of a match and into wrestling rules and why it's allowed to happen (like how does the other tag partner kicking the guy making a cover break up the count, etc) and another would assume the role of Gorilla Monsoon to explain so (any infringement on the cover is deemed to interfere with the cover and nullify it, teams were even allowed a set amount of "break ups" years ago I beleive).

To be honest, i quite like that about Monsoon, I didnt feel like he was showing up the wrestler themselves, but more tearing into their tactics, much like a football pundit using playback to point out that if the ball had been played up in this space here (imagine a frozen picture and the magic pen-thingy) then there would have been more space to score (poor example but you get the point)
I think im going to put this into a new thread so we can talk about it further, and keep on topic here.
